Cockscomb Basin Jaguar Preserve and River Tubing
Located in Southern Belize is the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, the world's only jaguar preserve. Surrounded by the Maya Mountains and the towering Victoria's Peak, the Basin's 120,000 acres are also home to jaguarundi, margays, ocelots, pumas, deer, howler monkeys and tapirs. The park offers a wide variety of hikes, including a waterfall hike where you can dip in the refreshing waters. Our knowledgeable guides identify the numerous birds as well as the flora and fauna of the pristine rainforest along the way. With over 290 recorded species of birds, this park is ideal for birders as well. As jaguars and other cats are nocturnal, it is not very likely that you will see them, but you will be able to spot fresh tracks. Bring your binoculars and trek through this rainforest of abundant beauty!

Southern Ruins & Chocolate Making
Take an hour-and-a-half long drive to the Mayan site, "Nim Li Punit" (Big Hat). Explore to your heart’s content, then retire to a local restaurant for lunch before getting back to sightseeing another Mayan site, this time at "Lubaantun" (Place of the Fallen Stones)—famous for the unearthing of the "Crystal Skull". A knowledgeable guide will take you through the site, teaching you about the people, culture and history of the site as you go. On the drive back, we'll stop at "Ixcacao", the traditional Maya Chocolate Factory! Yes, you get samples, and you'll get to make your very own chocolate, the way that the Mayas did! We'll spend about an hour there before we head for home.
